The journal Conatus is the result of the research project Political Fundamentals in Benedictus de Spinoza‘s maturation and an unfolding of the GT Benedictus de Spinoza – ANPOF, created under the auspices of the M.A. in Philosophy of the Universidade Estadual do Ceará. The main goal of Conatus is to promote a better release of Spinoza’s thought by means of publication of texts produced by professors and researchers who study his work and the subjects treated by the philosopher, or by other authors who have discussed or maintain a dialogue with him throughout their researches or those developed by their students. Thus, we believe to be able to create a supply for the growing call for texts, studies and translations by and about Spinoza. The journal Conatus is meant to be published every semester, in the months of july and january. This choice was made for practical reasons, since we were afraid of lacking enough time for a quarterly publication. With a semester issue, we are sure that there will be plenty of time for the selection, evaluation and desktop publishing of the sent material. Besides, we will dispose of a reasonable deadline to provide a reply to those who submit their texts, in a period of time that will not be superior to three months. As for the journal’s format, we have decided to adopt the desktop electronic one since it implies a gain, both in terms of quality and rapidity, which ultimately allows the journal’s address to virtual readers in a more accessible way. However, we observe that the possibility of a printed format is not excluded, according to its evolution and acceptance by the readers. The journal Conatus is born with a high level Advisory Board, which includes professors of different countries, able to substantially represent the ensemble of researchers of Spinoza’s work and philosophy in our days. The board will be directly assisted by an Editorial Committee formed by the editor and three other members whose task is to prepare the sent material, redirecting it to the members of the Advisory Board, so that they can make out their judgment, answer the authors and, once the text approved, to achieve the publishing in the homepage. We take this opportunity to invite all people with an interest in Spinoza’s thought or in the subjects treated by the Dutch philosopher to submit texts to our journal
